Objectives

  • Understand how SQL Server uses system resources (CPU, I/O, memory, network) and what to look for when configuring
  • Learn how the Query Optimizer calculates the data path
  • Master the execution plans and the most important operators (index access, sorts, parallelism, etc.)
  • Monitor performance with standard SQL Server tools (Perfmon, Extended Events, Query Store, DMVs)
  • Understand the most common SQL Server wait types

  • The Microsoft SQL Server Performance Tuning course is designed for Database Administrators (DBAs), Network/System/Application Administrators (NSAs) responsible for SQL Server databases or their support.

Prerequisites

  • Good experience and knowledge of SQL Server databases
  • Ideally, you have already taken the SQL Server DBA essentials training
