Platform engineering: A new era or just a buzzword emphasizing DevOps?

In French the 01.04.2025, in English the 08.04.2025

Arnaud Berbier, Delivery Manager & Principal Consultant DevOps
Nicolas Meunier
, DevOps Consultant

In this session, we will explore platform engineering, its key concepts and how it leverages DevOps. We will also try to understand how you can accelerate and simplify the operational steps of your application lifecycle via tools and automation. Based on our consulting experience, we will use real cases to illustrate how platform engineering has become essential.

pgvector : Why is PostgreSQL at the center of the AI workflows ?

In French the 01.04.2025, in English the 08.04.2025

Adrien Obernesser, Open Infrastructure Consultant

PostgreSQL has a decades-long history of handling multidimensional data, with geospatial searches through the PostGIS extension. This sets the stage for the leap from a few dimensions (2D or 3D) to thousands of dimensions with the pgvector extension. It allows AI/ML systems to run directly on PostgreSQL and is an example of the richness of the PostgreSQL Open Source ecosystem, providing robust support for storing and querying high-dimensional embeddings.
In this talk, we’ll explore how vector-based Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) is a natural progression from standard SQL queries and full-text searches. We will demonstrate how large language models (LLMs) interact with pgvector, how embeddings are stored, and which indexing strategies work best for high-dimensional data. Join us to learn how pgvector can help future-proof your business by supporting recommendation systems and more.

Hardening Kubernetes Clusters with SUSE Solutions

In French the 01.04.2025, in English the 08.04.2025

Kévin Keovilay, DevOps Consultant

Strengthening Kubernetes with SUSE Security, RKE2 and Rancher, providing hardened systems, zero trust security, and compliance checks will ensure secure and resilient containerized environments. Let’s dive into a demo to explore these capabilities in action.

Accepting to get old, generation conflicts explained with CloudNativePG as an example

In English the 01.04.2025, in German the 08.04.2025

Daniel Westermann, Principal Consultant

Initially this talk was planned to highlight the benefits of K8s operators in contrast to the traditional way of managing infrastructures when it comes to PostgreSQL. While planning the talk, it became clear that there is much more about this. A new generation is coming up, and some of us are getting older while others are getting really old (me?). While each generation has its own ways of working and thinking, none of them is either better or worse than the other. We should learn from each other, adapt what was proven to be good, throw away what was proven to be wrong. The core technical concepts stay the same: I/O, network, scheduling, infrastructures in general and most importantly: Experience. Building experience is the way forward, and the only way to survive and stay successful in a rapidly changing environment.

Full Stack Automated Testing

In French the 01.04.2025, in English the 08.04.2025

Joan Frey, Open Infrastructure Consultant

Automated testing is more important than ever in modern software development, especially in a DevOps era where frequent releases are the norm. In this session, I will show you how to create automated tests for each part of a full-stack application, from the database to the frontend. You will learn how to test PostgreSQL databases, Node.js APIs, and Vue.js components. We’ll use modern tools like Jest, Cypress, and GitLab CI/CD to show you how to set up automated tests and make your development process more efficient.
