In both cases, we have the same functionalities.<\/p>\n<h2>Let&#8217;s go !<\/h2>\n<p>Follow all steps to subscribe your free trial access in the PaaS \/ DbaaS category on <strong>https:\/\/cloud.oracle.com\/home<\/strong>.<br \/>\nOnce your account is registered, you will receive an e-mail from Oracle with subscription details.<\/p>\n<p>This e-mail contains a lot of services, but we will only use the Oracle Backup Service. We can notice that our Backup Service has a data region (UK) and a link to associated documentation (same for other services).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><strong>Oracle Database Backup Service<\/strong><br \/>\nData Region: UK001<br \/>\nGet Started: <strong>http:\/\/docs.oracle.com\/cloud\/latest\/dbbackup_gs\/index.html<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the next steps, we will have a look on different types of Backup Services. The access to the Backup Services is linked to your account.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">You need :<br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Your email address<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Your password<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Your Identity Domain<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Start with CloudBerry by downloading and installing the following link : <strong>http:\/\/www.cloudberrylab.com<\/strong> and install it.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 1 &#8211; Creating an Oracle connection<\/h3>\n<p>File &gt; New Oracle Account<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Process_to_connection1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9897\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Process_to_connection1.png\" alt=\"Process_to_connection\" width=\"574\" height=\"342\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The account location depends on where you have subscribed your Datacenter. This account is notified when you receive your confirmation e-mail. Note that your storage space is linked with your identity domain and that all services, which depend on your subscription, will be stored in this area.<\/p>\n<p>Once the connection is established we are going to create a container for the backup storage area (process below).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Process_to_connection_Crea_allt.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9925\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Process_to_connection_Crea_allt.png\" alt=\"Process_to_connection_Crea_allt\" width=\"637\" height=\"295\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This page shows other containers as well as our &#8220;SandBox&#8221; container we just created. The &#8220;<strong>_apaas<\/strong>&#8221; belongs to an Application Container Cloud I created as a service on my Oracle Public Cloud.<\/p>\n<p>We will use our SandBox container to create our Oracle Backup Service. There are 2 kinds of containers, &#8220;Standard &amp; Archive&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><strong>Standard :<\/strong>\u00a0Containers are similar to a directory structure but with a key distinction: unlike directories, containers cannot be nested.<br \/>\nBy default, all containers are of the standard storage class (as opposed to the archive storage class).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><strong>Archive :<\/strong>\u00a0You can use Archive containers to store data that won&#8217;t be accessed for a while or that will be accessed infrequently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\">For example :<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Storage_quota.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9999\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Storage_quota.jpg\" alt=\"Storage_quota\" width=\"761\" height=\"123\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In Cloud, we can monitor storage capacity of your <span id=\"pt1:pt_pgl1\" class=\"content af_panelGroupLayout\"><span id=\"pt1:pt2:sd-header\" class=\"sec-container sd-header af_panelGroupLayout\"><span id=\"pt1:pt2:sd-header-c\" class=\"sec af_panelGroupLayout\"><span id=\"pt1:pt2:pg2\" class=\"sd-svc-desc af_panelGroupLayout\"><span id=\"pt1:pt2:ot1\" class=\"h1 pos-flt-left\">Oracle Database Backup Service<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/billing.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10003\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/billing.jpg\" alt=\"billing\" width=\"742\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Step 2 &#8211; Connection in your Oracle Public Cloud<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Process_to_connection.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9883\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Process_to_connection.png\" alt=\"Process_to_connection\" width=\"854\" height=\"311\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once the connection to your Oracle Public Cloud is established, we shall create a new database with a Backup storage area. I am not going to describe all steps to create a database in a Cloud, but rather some steps to backup the storage and a summary before we create it.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 3 &#8211; Creating Cloud Database with Backup and Recovery configuration<\/h3>\n<h4>Here is the summary of out DBaaS creation :<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/summary.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10004\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/summary.jpg\" alt=\"summary\" width=\"511\" height=\"466\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you will notice in the backup destination section, we have chosen a backup location option for the database in your service and, depending on your choice, provided information regarding the Oracle Storage Cloud service container where cloud backups have to be stored.<\/p>\n<p>Backup Destination: we are going to store our backup in a Cloud or\/in a local storage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Capture20.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9931\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Capture20.png\" alt=\"Capture20\" width=\"522\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For configuration, remember your :<\/p>\n<p>Cloud Storage Container : <em>&lt;store service name&gt;-&lt;identity domain name&gt;\/&lt;container name&gt;<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Step 4 &#8211; Backup Tests<\/h3>\n<p>First, we shall execute a backup of the database with RMAN command, then we will be able to check the results.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Rman_backup1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9996\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Rman_backup1.jpg\" alt=\"Rman_backup\" width=\"675\" height=\"208\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The backup has been correctly performed with RMAN command. So we will see if we have our backup pieces in your container.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Backup_container1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-9997\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Backup_container1.jpg\" alt=\"Backup_container\" width=\"678\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0As shown in the picture above, we find the backups in our &#8220;SandBox&#8221; container.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 5 &#8211;\u00a0<strong>How to check my backup parameters<\/strong> ?<\/h3>\n<p>When you perform a &#8220;Show All&#8221; command in RMAN you can check how your channel is configured for backups. There you should have a library parameter set up in RMAN as follow :<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Show_all.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9959\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Show_all.jpg\" alt=\"Show_all\" width=\"1024\" height=\"63\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We can notice that there are &#8220;SBT_TAPE&#8221; channels for the device with its library (libopc.so) and the configuration which is limited to maxsize of 2 Go.<\/p>\n<p>We see a parameter file called opcSDBX.or which contains the settings to access the backup cloud service Container. Then you can check it and open it with a text editor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Config_cloud.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9961\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Config_cloud.jpg\" alt=\"Config_cloud\" width=\"991\" height=\"86\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here we find our parameters entered previously when we created our access in the Oracle Cloud backup.
