Subscribe to alert is mandatory, of course, to be able to receive alerts concerning our group. But during operations like an update, a patching, &#8230;, we don&#8217;t want to be spoiled by lots of alerts. To avoid those unexpected Emails, we need to place our group and so, objects contained in this group, in maintenance mode.<\/p>\n<p>I will use a PowerShell script to do this job.<br \/>\nThe parameter of my script will be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ManagementServer: mandatory parameter containing management server name<\/li>\n<li>GroupName: mandatory parameter containing display name of the target group<\/li>\n<li>DurationTimeMin: mandatory parameter containing the duration maintenance time in minutes<\/li>\n<li>Comment: mandatory parameter containing a comment for the maintenance time<\/li>\n<li>Reason: mandatory parameter containing the reason of the maintenance, value are predifined and should be: PlannedOther, UnplannedOther, PlannedHardwareMaintenance, UnplannedHardwareMaintenance, PlannedHardwareInstallation, UnplannedHardwareInstallation, PlannedOperatingSystemReconfiguration,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 UnplannedOperatingSystemReconfiguration, PlannedApplicationMaintenance, ApplicationInstallation, ApplicationUnresponsive, ApplicationUnstable, SecurityIssue, LossOfNetworkConnectivity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In PowerShell:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: actionscript3; gutter: true; first-line: 1\">param(\n [Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][string]\n $ManagementServer,\n [Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][string]\n $GroupName,\n [Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][int32]\n $DurationTimeMin,\n [Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][string]\n $Reason,\n [Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][string]\n $Comment\n )<\/pre>\n<p>I need to import the necessary module for SCOM:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: actionscript3; gutter: true; first-line: 1\"># Import necessary module for SCOM\n Import-Module OperationsManager<\/pre>\n<p class=\"brush: actionscript3; gutter: true; first-line: 1\">I will now create a persistent connection to my Management Group:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: actionscript3; gutter: true; first-line: 1\"># Create connection to SCOM Management Group\n New-SCOMManagementGroupConnection -ComputerName $ManagementServer<\/pre>\n<p class=\"brush: actionscript3; gutter: true; first-line: 1\">\u00a0I have now just to find my SCOM group with his name and to place it in maintenance mode for the duration period I specified before:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: actionscript3; gutter: true; first-line: 1\"># Find group and place in maintenance mode\nForEach ($Group in (Get-ScomGroup -DisplayName $GroupName))\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 {\n\u00a0\u00a0 If ($group.InMaintenanceMode -eq $false)\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 {\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 $group.ScheduleMaintenanceMode([datetime]::Now.touniversaltime(), `\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ([datetime]::Now).addminutes($DurationTimeMin).touniversaltime(), `\n\u00a0\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \"$Reason\", \"$Comment\" , \"Recursive\")\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 }\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 }<\/pre>\n<p class=\"brush: actionscript3; gutter: true; first-line: 1\">To run my script I open a PowerShell screen and execute the following command:<\/p>\n<p class=\"brush: actionscript3; gutter: true; first-line: 1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/MaintenanceMode4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-9016\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/MaintenanceMode4.jpg\" alt=\"MaintenanceMode4\" width=\"300\" height=\"34\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"brush: actionscript3; gutter: true; first-line: 1\">I go now to SCOM and check for my group.
