Let me show you how to use it.<\/p>\n<p>From the Enterprise \u00e0 Monitoring select Corrective Actions\u00a0:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8965\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca1.png\" alt=\"ca1\" width=\"354\" height=\"282\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Choose Add Space to Tablespace in the Create Library Corrective Action\u00a0:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8966\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca2.png\" alt=\"ca2\" width=\"369\" height=\"352\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Enter the name, a description and choose Metric Alert as event:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8967\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca3.png\" alt=\"ca3\" width=\"376\" height=\"299\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally choose to Save to Library<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8968\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca4.png\" alt=\"ca4\" width=\"605\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You have to publish your corrective action as it has been created as a draft version, you select Publish.<\/p>\n<p>You can edit the Add Space corrective action parameters to adapt it to your environment:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8969\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca5.png\" alt=\"ca5\" width=\"605\" height=\"442\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we create a tablespace and we affect the Corrective Action to the Metric Alert Tablespace Used. In the Oracle Database \u00e0 Monitoring \u00e0 Metric and Collection Settings<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8970\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca6.png\" alt=\"ca6\" width=\"399\" height=\"192\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We edit the metric Tablespace Full, Tablespace Space Used (%):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8971\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca7.png\" alt=\"ca7\" width=\"484\" height=\"349\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the Monitored Objects, we select Edit:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca8.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8972\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca8.png\" alt=\"ca8\" width=\"468\" height=\"197\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We select Add in the Warning Corrective Actions:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca9.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8973\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca9.png\" alt=\"ca9\" width=\"575\" height=\"297\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Enter a name, database and host credentials and choose the Add Space to Tablepace corrective actions.<\/p>\n<p>Your corrective action is applied in the Tablespace Space Used. So if we insert a lot of data in our 5M size tablespace, the datafile must increase automatically. Let\u2019s make the test:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca10.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8974\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca10.png\" alt=\"ca10\" width=\"605\" height=\"176\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Connected as a user with the default tablespace PSI, we insert some values :<\/p>\n<p>SQL&gt; create table test as select * from sys.dba_segments where rownum &lt; 100;<\/p>\n<p>Table created.<\/p>\n<p>After some inserted values, the PSI tablespace is full, the corrective action has not yet run because its collection scheduled run every 30 minutes, we modify it to 5 minutes:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca11.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8975\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca11.png\" alt=\"ca11\" width=\"250\" height=\"235\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You also have the possibility to submit the job if you do not want to wait:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca12.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8976\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca12.png\" alt=\"ca12\" width=\"476\" height=\"376\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can display how the job is running:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca13.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8977\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca13.png\" alt=\"ca13\" width=\"488\" height=\"342\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The job is done, the tablespace PSI has been increased automatically :=)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca14.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8978\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca14.png\" alt=\"ca14\" width=\"605\" height=\"218\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This corrective action allows to increase a tablespace size, but if we consider that in many Oracle production environment the data files are in auto extent mode on, this feature might not be very useful.<\/p>\n<p>But we could use this corrective action to back up the database archive log when the archive log directory is filled more than the 80 % threshold.<\/p>\n<p>In the Monitoring \u00e0 Corrective Actions you select RMAN script and choose Go:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca15.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8979\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca15.png\" alt=\"ca15\" width=\"605\" height=\"149\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You enter the name , a shot description and you choose the event type Metric Alert<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca16.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8980\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca16.png\" alt=\"ca16\" width=\"361\" height=\"290\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the parameter tab, you enter your script to backup the archive logs:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca17.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8981\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca17.png\" alt=\"ca17\" width=\"399\" height=\"266\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then for my test database in the Metric and Collection Settings, we select the metric Archive Area Used, and we add the corrective action backup archive log:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca18.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8982\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca18.png\" alt=\"ca18\" width=\"567\" height=\"263\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca19.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8983\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ca19.png\" alt=\"ca19\" width=\"530\" height=\"406\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now I modify the warning threshold for test purpose, I generate activity on the database to generate archive logs, the job is successfully launched:<\/p>\n<p><a
