This new feature will simplify the agent management.<\/p>\n<p>The first thing to do is to create a Gold Agent image, from the setup menu , select Gold Agent Image:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8661\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga1.png\" alt=\"ga1\" width=\"605\" height=\"194\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then select Manage All Images:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8662\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga2.png\" alt=\"ga2\" width=\"435\" height=\"306\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Select Create<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8663\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga3.png\" alt=\"ga3\" width=\"226\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Enter the image name, a description and the platform name, then submit:<\/p>\n<p>Your gold image is created:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8664\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga4.png\" alt=\"ga4\" width=\"605\" height=\"186\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Before to subscribe an agent, we have to create a version for the gold agent image. In the Manage Images screen, we select Version and Drafts and we choose Create:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8665\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga5.png\" alt=\"ga5\" width=\"475\" height=\"353\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The gold agent image version is created as a draft:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8666\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga6.png\" alt=\"ga6\" width=\"558\" height=\"258\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You select Set Current Version, the status is now Current:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8667\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga7.png\" alt=\"ga7\" width=\"552\" height=\"262\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we can also install an agent using the gold agent image, from the Gold agent Image screen, we select Add Hosts:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga8.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8668\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga8.png\" alt=\"ga8\" width=\"605\" height=\"253\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You enter the hostname, the platform name and you choose to install With Gold Agent Image:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga9.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8670\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga9.png\" alt=\"ga9\" width=\"544\" height=\"409\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then the classical agent installation is running fine. We have the possibility to update the agent on vmtestoradg2 to the last patch version. At first we unsubscribe this agent from the gold agent image V1, then we subscribe it to the gold agent image V2, then in the Subscription tab of the gold agent image, we select update to current version:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga12.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8676\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga12.png\" alt=\"ga12\" width=\"425\" height=\"343\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We select Next and the update process is launched:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga13.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8677\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga13.png\" alt=\"ga13\" width=\"436\" height=\"330\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The next screen displays the different options:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga14.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8678\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/ga14.png\" alt=\"ga14\" width=\"527\" height=\"439\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In this screen, we have a lot of possibilities, send Pre-Update or Post-Update scripts, receive mails when the update process is finished :=)<\/p>\n<p>You can follow the update progress via the console or more practical via emcli:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: sql; -agents=&#8221;vmtestoradg2:3872&#8243;<\/p>\n<p>or emcli update_agents -image_name=&#8221;gold_image&#8221; -agents=&#8221;vmtestoradg2:3872&#8243;<\/p>\n<p>This new feature will ease the agent management on Enterprise Manager, using gold agent image will allow you to deploy or update the same agent at the most recent patch level on multiple hosts.
