id=\"h-introduction\"><strong>Introduction:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>During a Control-M installation, you can face some issues, sometime it&#8217;s due to a lack of prerequisites ( Keep the best practices and be sure to follow the advice from BMC site experts, take a look on the installation documentation to fill all the prerequisite).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However it can be a singular issue ( not as explicit as a right access issue, space issue or a missing file in your OS library ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will see that, for my example I am using an <strong>Ubuntu  <\/strong>OS from <strong>WSL<\/strong>, I have checked all the prerequisite before installation, you can check the steps to check your prerequisite below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Check your prerequisites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As advised from the excellent BMC site &#8220;Before you install Control-M, verify that your operating system, processor, and database server are supported and have the correct amount of memory and diskspace.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a full list of requirements, see the Control-M 9.0.21.100 Release Notes here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.bmc.com\/docs\/controlm\/90201\/control-m-9-0-21-100-release-notes-1164640372.html\">https:\/\/docs.bmc.com\/docs\/controlm\/90201\/control-m-9-0-21-100-release-notes-1164640372.html<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on your operating system, verify that your system meets one of the following requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For me it is Linux x86_64 ( Ubuntu with enough RAM and disk space , so it should not be a problem \ud83d\ude42 ) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For Unix\/Linux users<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" setup file<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After having checked and validated the prerequisites, we can start the installation file ( Maybe I will post a blog on <strong>Control-M V9.19<\/strong> installation ,you can already check how to proceed by consulting it on BMC site ) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/image-1024x254.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26820\" width=\"1181\" height=\"293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/image-1024x254.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/image-300x75.png 300w, https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/image-768x191.png 1916w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1181px) 100vw, 1181px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Few minutes after the beginning of the installation we have the below error message<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;&#8230;<code>failed installing PostgreSQL<\/code>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Indeed the <strong>perl <\/strong>script in charge of the installation is stopped and indicate you to check a specific file located here:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><code>\/Your_Control-M_Home\/BMCINSTALL\/pgserver_build_trace.log<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Let&#8217;s browse to this file and check what happened<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Here is the interesting part of the log:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><code>GMTLOG: invalid value for parameter \"lc_monetary\": \"en_US.ISO8859-1\"<br>GMTLOG: invalid value for parameter \"lc_numeric\": \"en_US.ISO8859-1\"<br>GMTLOG: invalid value for parameter \"lc_time\": \"en_US.ISO8859-1\"<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/image-4-1024x431.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26829\" width=\"1079\" height=\"454\" 1300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1079px) 100vw, 1079px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Seems to be a locale parameters issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Script also indicates that the posgresql.conf file  locate under <code>\/home\/controlm\/pgsql\/data\/postgresql.conf<\/code> is removed due to this error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to fix this issue<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After some search and also helped by a BMC colleague ( thanks to him \ud83d\ude42 ) , we got the explanation : Regarding the OS configuration and locale language defined , this issue can occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To fix it ,we have to update a specific file :<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><code>\/home\/controlm\/pgsql\/share\/postgresql.conf.sample<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/image-5-1024x246.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26832\" width=\"1056\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/image-5-1024x246.png 1024w, 1808w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1056px) 100vw, 1056px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Edit this with your favorite text editor and remove the 3 lines below from the file:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><code>\"lc_monetary\": \"en_US.ISO8859-1\"<br>\"lc_numeric\": \"en_US.ISO8859-1\"<br>\"lc_time\": \"en_US.ISO8859-1\"<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Don&#8217;t forget to save the file <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Restart the setup script<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Now we can restart the launcher ( or press retry if you still have the installation window)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/image-7-1024x560.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26836\" width=\"1054\" height=\"576\"
