{"id":23662,"date":"2023-03-21T17:41:01","date_gmt":"2023-03-21T16:41:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/?p=23662"},"modified":"2023-03-30T09:47:37","modified_gmt":"2023-03-30T07:47:37","slug":"control-m-em-find-who-created-a-workload-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/control-m-em-find-who-created-a-workload-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Control-M\/EM : Find who created a Workload Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Introduction:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Control-M gives us many ways to get info about jobs , for example by checking their definition , or checking their execution log or the Alert viewer,checking their execution their scheduling and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is also ways to monitor other Control-M components such as resources,database update,communication between Control-M components..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everything depends of what you need but you will probably find your information by using tools given by Control-M<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today we will see how to get the creator of a workload policy and also creation date<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is a Workload Policy?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a definition from <strong>BMC <\/strong>site<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Workload Policies <strong>enable you to control, manage, and balance the workload on Control-M resources and hosts<\/strong>. A Workload Policy uses filters to group together jobs and applies rules to those jobs to limit their impact on the workload&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Typically I use a workload policy to hold specific jobs during a specific period , for example for maintenance matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You have many possibilities to use Control-M&#8217;s workload policy, which makes it a very powerful tool for your daily tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Create a Workload Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a reminder let&#8217;s see how to create update and delete your workload policies<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You href=\"https:\/\/www.bmc.com\/\">BMC Site<\/a><\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Control-M Reports tool enables you to create and generate ad hoc reports using data collected from your environment, as described in <a href=\"https:\/\/documents.bmc.com\/supportu\/controlm-saas\/en-US\/Documentation\/Control-M_Reports.htm#Creating\">Creating a Report Template<\/a>. Control-M provides default categories that include report templates that you can use to view specific information and generate reports, as described in <a href=\"https:\/\/documents.bmc.com\/supportu\/controlm-saas\/en-US\/Documentation\/Report_Management.htm#Generati\">Generating a Report<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use the report templates in the following categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/documents.bmc.com\/supportu\/controlm-saas\/en-US\/Documentation\/Control-M_Reports.htm#Active\">Active<\/a>: Collects data regarding active jobs or other Control-M data from the active environment, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/documents.bmc.com\/supportu\/controlm-saas\/en-US\/Documentation\/Control-M_Reports.htm#\">alerts<\/a> or audits.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/documents.bmc.com\/supportu\/controlm-saas\/en-US\/Documentation\/Control-M_Reports.htm#SLA\">SLA Management<\/a>: Collects data for execution status, <a href=\"https:\/\/documents.bmc.com\/supportu\/controlm-saas\/en-US\/Documentation\/Control-M_Reports.htm#\">service<\/a> name and status, slack time, and total number of SLA Management jobs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/documents.bmc.com\/supportu\/controlm-saas\/en-US\/Documentation\/Control-M_Reports.htm#Definiti\">Definition<\/a>: Collects definition-related information from the Planning domain regarding jobs, <a href=\"https:\/\/documents.bmc.com\/supportu\/controlm-saas\/en-US\/Documentation\/Control-M_Reports.htm#\">folders<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/documents.bmc.com\/supportu\/controlm-saas\/en-US\/Documentation\/Control-M_Reports.htm#\">events<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enable audit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First of all we have to enable audit in the Control-M Configuration Manager ( tick the boxes one for enabling annotations and one fore enabling Client Window with my user<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I update the Workload policy description by adding a dot and save the parameters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can see that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You now have the keys to investigate deeper on Control-M and have a good way to monitor action done on your infrastructure  \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Control-M offers many possibilities to sort what you need, here we found who is the <strong>Workload Polic<\/strong>y Creator but you can have loads of
