While working on a customer project, I needed to retrieve the SQL Server SCOM Management Pack version. Unfortunately, the SCOM team took a while to answer and as I am the DBA, I have access to the SCOM databases. So let\u2019s have a look at how we can get this the “hard” way.<\/p>\n

On 30\/06\/2014, a\u00a0new Management Pack was published for SQL Server.<\/span>
\nI have installed the last package and a lot bugs were fixed in it.
\nThe aim of this brief post is to inform you on the query to find the current version of the Management Pack for SQL Server without management permissions in SCOM.
\nOn the Microsoft website, you can download the System Center Management Pack for SQL Server here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The new version is 6.5.1.0 and I need to find the current version.<\/p>\n

By default , the database for SCOM is OperationsManager12<\/strong> and in this database, we have the table ManagementPack<\/strong> in the dbo<\/strong> schema:<\/p>\n

SELECT [ManagementPackId],[MPName],[MPFriendlyName],[MPVersion],[MPLastModified],[MPCreated] FROM [OperationsManager12].[dbo].[ManagementPack] where MPFriendlyName like ‘%SQL Server%’<\/samp><\/p>\n

\nBut as for all updates, test it before!<\/p>\n

A little bonus<\/h3>\n

Forthe\u00a0 SharePoint 2010 Management Pack, the latest version is 14.0.4745.1000. You can find it easily by replacing “SQL Server” with “SharePoint” in the WHERE clause.<\/p>\n
