No need to have the VM template up and running to use it provisioning new databases.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Check-VM_before_provisionning-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Check-VM_before_provisionning-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"47\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-51212\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/p>\n<h3>Software profile<\/h3>\n<p>We first need to create a software profile using our recently VM template. This will be the reference and used as template to provision new oracle database.<\/p>\n<p>From the &#8220;Profiles&#8221; Menu, we will choose Software, create, Oracle and Single Instance Database :<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Create_software-profile_0.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Create_software-profile_0.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"139\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-51167\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/p>\n<p>We will then provide :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A name for the profile.<\/li>\n<li>A description.<\/li>\n<li>The system will create automatically a 1.0 version of the software profile. The compute profile needs to be set accordingly of which database parameter profile we are using.<br \/>\nWe need to provide enough resource in compute profile that will be provided to oracle SGA and PGA in the database parameter. Otherwise the provisioning might fail with following error :<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Error_1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Error_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"30\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-51176\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s create a compute profile named SMALL_COMPUTE with 2 cores and 16 GB RAM.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Create_compute_profile_1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Create_compute_profile_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"105\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-51178\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/p>\n<h3>Database parameters profile<\/h3>\n<p>Let&#8217;s finally create a database parameters profile to match configuration for database we would like to provision.<\/p>\n<p>From the profile menu, database parameters part, chose create, then Oracle and click next.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Create_database_parameter_profile_1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Create_database_parameter_profile_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"156\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-51180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/p>\n<p>We will not use AMM (Automatic Memory Management) here, so resetting memory_target parameter, and use ASMM (Automatic Shared Memory Management) instead. We will therefore set both sga and pga parameters.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Create_database_parameter_profile_2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Create_database_parameter_profile_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-51182\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/p>\n<h3>Provision a database<\/h3>\n<p>All is now ready for us to provision a database.<\/p>\n<p>This will be done from the &#8220;Databases&#8221; Menu, choosing &#8220;Oracle Source DBs&#8221; :<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Nutanix_Era_Provision_database_1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Nutanix_Era_Provision_database_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"182\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-51184\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/p>\n<p>Click on Provision, Oracle, Single Instance Database :<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Nutanix_Era_Provision_database_2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Nutanix_Era_Provision_database_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"146\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-51190\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/br><\/p>\n<p>We will choose to create a new VM. Of course we could deploy a new database on an existing VM that would have previously already registered in Nutanix Era.<\/p>\n<p>We will provide :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Name of the VM.<\/li>\n<li>The Software Profile we would like to use to deploy the oracle database.
