In SQL Server 2017, IDENTITY_CACHE is added and after in SQL Server 2019, 18 more parameters.<\/p>\n<p>I will go through all parameters in this blog.<br \/>\nThe goal is to discover and use these parameters and no more the old way\u2026<br \/>\nThe details of these parameters is <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sql\/t-sql\/statements\/alter-database-scoped-configuration-transact-sql?view=sql-server-ver15\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Many of these parameters are also only on the instance configuration and now they are on the database level like for example OPTIMIZE_FOR_AD_HOC_WORKLOADS<\/p>\n<p>If I take this example,<br \/>\nOn the server level, we use the query and all databases are impacted with this change:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: sql; gutter: true; first-line: 1\">SP_CONFIGURE 'Show Advanced Options', 1\nGO\nRECONFIGURE\nGO\nSP_CONFIGURE 'optimize for ad hoc workloads', 1\nGO\nRECONFIGURE\nGO\n<\/pre>\n<p>On the database level, we use the query:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: sql; gutter: true; first-line: 1\">ALTER DATABASE [Database] SCOPED CONFIGURATION\nSET OPTIMIZE_FOR_AD_HOC_WORKLOADS = ON;<\/pre>\n<p>It\u2019s very important to know that we have new options on the database level and how to set these options.<\/p>\n<p>I hope this little blog will help you to migrate to SQL Server 2019 and use these options at the database level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SQL Server 2019 added three new options in sp_configure and sys.configurations.
