Control-M GUI,but today we will use a reall nice tool named PgAdmin.<br \/>\nIts a GUI where you can connect your controlm postgres database and perform administartions tasks.It&#8217;s a freeware and quite complete,so don&#8217;t hesitate to test it \ud83d\ude42<br \/>\nWe will see how to update jobs using this tool,but probably on next blogs we will check how to update other Control-M parameters.<br \/>\nSo let&#8217;s go!<\/p>\n<h3>Connect your Control-M databases to PgAdmin<\/h3>\n<p>First you must have PgAdmin tool installed on your PC and also connect you 2 control-m database ( for Control-M sever and Control-M\/EM using your database credentials).<br \/>\nGo to this page and enjoy \ud83d\ude42 (it&#8217;s quite easy to install)<br \/>\nhttps:\/\/www.pgadmin.org\/download\/<br \/>\nI will probably make a quick blog to show you how to connect it and browse into Control-M database.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/PGADMIN1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-44672\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/PGADMIN1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1302\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once connected we will select on Control-M database the table named CMR_AJF (in order to update our job only in the monitoring domain.)This table contains the parameters of the active jobs<\/p>\n<p><a on the AJF<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/PGADMIN3jobbeforeudpt.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-44673\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/PGADMIN3jobbeforeudpt.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1322\" height=\"357\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Update job fields in PgAdmin<\/h3>\n<p>Back to PgAdmin, we deploy the CMR_AJF table to see the fields inside and select in the job the columns we want to update ( here we will choose the name and the description )<br \/>\nSave the changes in PgAdmin then connect to your control-M server using controlm user.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/PGADMIN3seletcDB7UPDATEJOBPGSQL8.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-44677\" Control-M database using reset_ecs command<\/h3>\n<p>To take the changes in account we have to perform the <strong>reset_ecs<\/strong> command under controlm user( corresponding to a force download )<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/PGADMIN3seletcDB7UPDATEresetecs.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Check on workload automation if changes are effective<\/h3>\n<p>Back to the monitoring domain on our Control-M GUI we can see that jobname and definition are now updated height=\"627\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>conclusion<\/h3>\n<p>PgAdmin is a user friendly tool to perform SQL tasks and queries , that can be used to ease actions on Control-M database.Lot of possibility are given to update your databases and no need to have great knowledge of\u00a0 PostgreSQL syntax to do it,just <strong>be careful<\/strong> of what you do on your databases!(you can consult a Postgres
