{"id":14369,"date":"2020-06-29T09:15:50","date_gmt":"2020-06-29T07:15:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/oracle-goldengate-19c-cannot-register-integrated-extract-due-to-ora-44004\/"},"modified":"2020-06-29T09:15:50","modified_gmt":"2020-06-29T07:15:50","slug":"oracle-goldengate-19c-cannot-register-integrated-extract-due-to-ora-44004","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/oracle-goldengate-19c-cannot-register-integrated-extract-due-to-ora-44004\/","title":{"rendered":"Oracle GoldenGate 19c: Cannot register Integrated EXTRACT due to ORA-44004"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The global_name in an oracle database has a direct impact on the Golden Gate Extract process registration we need to do when we create an Integrated Extract.<\/p>\n<p>In my example below, I use Oracle GoldenGate MicroServices architecture but the same behaviour occurs with Oracle GoldenGate Classic architecture.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start with the creation of the Extract process by clicking on the plus button :<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_1-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-41297\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1204\" height=\"485\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Choose Integrated Extract and click on Next button:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_2-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-41298\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1136\" height=\"380\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fulfill all mandatory fields:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-41299\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"952\" height=\"741\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Add the list of tables you want to replicate:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-41300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1214\" height=\"668\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Click on Create and Run the process. After a few seconds, the following error message appears :<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-41301\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1220\" height=\"648\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>An integrated extract must to be registered into the database and this is the registration process which fails.<\/p>\n<p>By checking into the report file, we see that Logmining server does not exist on the database. This error is a consequence of the extract registration process failure.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_0-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-41302\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_0-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1204\" height=\"187\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The problem is Oracle GoldenGate doesn&#8217;t support the character &#8220;-&#8221; in the GLOBAL_NAME:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: sql; gutter: true; first-line: 1\">SQL&gt; select * from global_name;\n\nGLOBAL_NAME\n--------------------------------------------------------------------------------\nDB1.IT.DBI-SERVICES.COM\n\nSQL&gt; sho parameter db_domain\n\nNAME     TYPE VALUE\n------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------\ndb_domain     string it.dbi-services.com\n<\/pre>\n<p>The solution is to modify the db_domain and rename the global_name :<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: sql; gutter: true; first-line: 1\">SQL&gt; alter system set db_domain='it.dbiservices.com' scope=spfile;\n\nSystem altered.\n\n\nSQL&gt; alter database rename global_name to DB1.ITDBISERVICES.COM;\n\nDatabase altered.<\/pre>\n<p>Let&#8217;s now try create the Extract Process:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-41307\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1207\" height=\"648\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now it works :<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-41308\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1217\" height=\"334\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s check the report file by clicking in Action\/details button :<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-41309\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/AddExtract_8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1155\" height=\"409\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new global_name (DB1.ITDBISERVICES.COM) is now active\u00a0 and Logminig server is enabled into the database.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The global_name in an oracle database has a direct impact on the Golden Gate Extract process registration we need to do when we create an Integrated Extract.
