{"id":13162,"date":"2019-12-11T16:08:26","date_gmt":"2019-12-11T15:08:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/upgrade-your-power-bi-report-server\/"},"modified":"2019-12-11T16:08:26","modified_gmt":"2019-12-11T15:08:26","slug":"upgrade-your-power-bi-report-server","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/upgrade-your-power-bi-report-server\/","title":{"rendered":"Upgrade your Power BI Report Server"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Introduction<\/h3>\n<p>Even if upgrading your Power BI Report Server is straight forward, I have been asked many times where to find the installation files and how to run it that I thought a blog is worth it.<\/p>\n<h3>Before you start<\/h3>\n<pre>Before upgrading your Power BI Report Server it is recommended to perform some backup steps.<\/pre>\n<ul>\n<li>Back up the encryption keys<\/li>\n<li>Back up the report server databases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p lang=\"en-US\">Back up the configuration files (in the default installation location folders)<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\">C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Power BI Report Server\\PBIRS\\ReportServer<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Rsreportserver.config<\/li>\n<li>Rssvrpolicy.config<\/li>\n<li>Web.config<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p lang=\"en-US\">C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Power BI Report Server\\PBIRS\\ReportServer\\bin<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Reportingservicesservice.exe.config<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p lang=\"en-US\">C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Power BI Report Server\\PBIRS\\RSHostingService<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>config.json<\/li>\n<li>RSHostingService.exe.config<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Download the latest version<\/h3>\n<p>Most of the time searching for download the latest Power BI Report Server version you will land to this site: <a href=\"https:\/\/powerbi.microsoft.com\/en-us\/report-server\/\">https:\/\/powerbi.microsoft.com\/en-us\/report-server\/<\/a> As I was asked several times, I found useful to mention to select &#8220;Advanced download option&#8221; to find the download site.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/blog1-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/blog1-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"356\" height=\"70\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Notice the Power BI Version available, then click download<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/blog2-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/blog2-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"90\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Select the install files you want.
