To Create A Recovery Services Vault In Azure"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Creating A Recovery Services Vault In Azure<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To create a recovery services vault, we first need to create a resource group by using either the CLI or the Azure interface.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Creating a resource group using the command line interface<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>$resourceGroup = &#8220;recovvault&#8221;<br \/>\n$location = &#8220;westeurope&#8221;<br \/>\naz group create -n $resourceGroup -l $location<\/p>\n<p>The resource <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">recovvault<\/span> has been created successfully.<\/p>\n<p>Now we need to setup\u00a0 the recovery services vault.<\/p>\n<p>From <a title=\"Azure portal\" href=\"https:\/\/portal.azure.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Azure portal<\/a>, select the resource group created then click on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Add,<\/span>\u00a0and search for <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Backup and Site recovery (OMS),<\/span>\u00a0click on it and hit create.<br \/>\nSpecify the following information as described in the image below:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Recovery_Backup1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-31481\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Recovery_Backup1.png\" alt=\"Recovery Services Backup\" width=\"300\" height=\"289\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hit create.<\/p>\n<p>The recovery services vault has been created successfully.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Set the vault storage redundancy to Locally-redundant<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the recovery vault created<\/li>\n<li>From the options column, select\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Properties,<\/span>\u00a0then <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Backup configuration<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Choose <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Locally-redundant<\/span> (cost effective than Geo-redundant)<\/li>\n<li>Hit save<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Configuring the\u00a0Azure Backup Agent<\/span>.<\/h4>\n<p>We need to create a virtual machine in order to simulate an on-premise server,\u00a0so click on Backup from the left menu.<br \/>\nFor the purpose of this example, we will choose <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">On-premises<\/span>\u00a0for simulation and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">File and Folders<\/span>\u00a0to backup.<br \/>\nHit <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Prepare the infrastructure<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Then download the agent for windows server and the vault credentials by clicking on the link provided (see below):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Recovery_Services_Agent-e1551705944987.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-31447\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Recovery_Services_Agent-e1551705944987.png\" alt=\"Recovery_Services_Agent\" width=\"274\" height=\"528\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Open the Azure Recovery Services Agent service,\u00a0leave the sections <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Installation Settings<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Proxy Configuration<\/span> by default then click on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Install<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>When the installation is done, click on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Proceed to Registration<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s associate the vault credential with the agent.<\/p>\n<p>Browse to select the agent credential in order to associate the server with the backup vault in Azure.<br \/>\nEnter and confirm the passphrase, choose a location to save it then hit finish.<\/p>\n<p>The server is now registered with the Azure backup and the agent properly installed.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Schedule\u00a0backup for Files and Folders<\/span>.<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Click on close to launch <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Schedule Backup<\/span> from the right column<\/li>\n<li>Select items to backup (my docs folder)<\/li>\n<li>Specify backup schedule (outside normal working hours)<\/li>\n<li>Leave by default the retention policy<\/li>\n<li>In our example, we choose over the network due to our small data.<\/li>\n<li>Hit <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Finish<\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have small data, choose the option <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Over the network<\/span>, otherwise choose <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Offline<\/span> for large data.<\/p>\n<p>The backup schedule is now successful.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Executing the backup<\/span>.<\/h4>\n<p>Click on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Back up Now<\/span> from the right column<br \/>\nHit back up and close (see below):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbi-services.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/04\/Backup_R-e1551711135710.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"512\" height=\"226\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Recovering Data<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Click on Recover data from the right column of the window backup<\/li>\n<li>Choose <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">This server<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Choose Volume<\/li>\n<li>Select the volume and date<\/li>\n<li>Choose another recovery destination<\/li>\n<li>Hit recover<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The recovery is now successful, the folder has been properly recovered.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Information related to the cost of resources used during the implementation of the recovery vault<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<p>Use the below PowerShell command to get an overview of the cost of the resources used:<\/p>\n<p>Get-AzConsumptionUsageDetail -BillingPeriodName 201903 -ResourceGroup\u00a0recovvault<\/p>\n<p>If you are in a\u00a0test environment, to avoid paying extra cost, make sure to delete the resource group (command-line below) created if not used.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>az group delete -n $resourceGroup -y<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Need further details about managing and monitoring a recovery service
