I tested ChatGPT myself and was really impressed about most of the outcome to my questions/request. I can definitively save a lot of time in specific. I like to use it for "brainstorming", because a human being is not able to remember all the stuff it did during their whole life, but an AI basically could. So ChatGPT most probably would come up with some points, I already forget about and which could be helpful in the specific situation to investigate.

But at the end, also ChatGPT is only a tool (at least for now. As long as business processes in companies are not being adopted to these kind of tools, it will not replace the human DBA for now.

This situation is similar to the one already happened with DevOps automation. One can have the best automation tools and scripts etc. availabel. As long as the automation process is "broken" by manual driven Change Processes for example, it will not work as expected by all the "100% automated" wet dreams of a specifc group of peoples.

ChatGPT is a great tool, but it is currently really "over-hyped". It's a new tool with amazing outcomes. But the more and more people will use this tool, the more weaknesses will be found.

And last but not least, in my opinion, the good old saying is still valid - A fool with a tool is still a fool ...

So yes, I completely agree with the conclusion made by Jerome Dubar - Consider ChatGPT as an helpful assistant that may save your precious time. Not less, not more.
