AWS Summit Zurich 2026 Edition

New AWS Summit, new day to learn new stuff and deepen my knowledge of this cloud provider.

As a starter, I attended the Keynote. The various speakers explained to us the benefits of AWS for startups, how they push newcomers to join the cloud and also help students with their AWS projects.

We also had a few customer feedbacks where the speakers explained how AWS helped them improve their business with most AWS services but with AI as the main character.

After that, I followed two presentations made by sponsored speakers from Cloudflare and HashiCorp. The HashiCorp described how the Post used AWS tools to gain trust in their customers for hosting healthcare data. The explanation was that to gain people confidence, you have to be open and show them how you do things and you protect them.

In the afternoon, I went to a presentation on AWS Transform. This one didn’t get my full interest as it was mainly explaining how to change mainstream/legacy programming languages to up-to-date languages.

The next in the list was about Disaster Recovery for banking. During this session, the speakers explained how they enable DR for their applications and what to do to protect yourself during a disaster.

I also attended a session about security. They proposed a solution to protect your backups in AWS. Backups are usually the first or one of the first targets for attackers. That’s why AWS Backup proposes a solution with Immutable backups. Once the backup is created, it can’t be changed. It also proposes data isolation using KMS to protect your data.

For the last session, I attended a session on the different AWS CPUs architectures available in AWS. They focused especially on graviton and AWS provided architectures. Basically, Graviton gives more resources for a price lower than the other providers. This solution seems to be a very good option if the workload is able to run on them.

Of course most of today’s topics are around AI. I tried not to have so much session around it to have a diverse view. I could see a few new things in AWS or what could be done recently thanks to that.
